Despite only being completed in 1966, St Peter's Seminary has been designated a 'building of world importance' by international architecture conservation organisation Docomomo. It closed in 1980, other uses for the building were found for a short while, but ultimately by the late 1980s it became abandoned. There are plans to partially restore the building, while purposely leaving other sections ruined, as part of a new vision for St Peter's.
