Our new signed poster "LION" was designed in our Hove studio using the principles of screen printed mid-Century matchbox design. The typography, colours and choice of text have been heavily influenced by matchbox covers from India, and designed into this brand new poster designed specifically for use as high quality wall-art. Matchbox artists could only use two or three colours to keep costs down. They had a small area to work with. And the paper quality was often poor and the printing process lacked quality control to keep costs down. In some ways these limits forced artists to come up with even more beautiful, minimal and clean designs.
